Rogue: Changes
What has changed for the Rogue in the Forever beta, newest first. The rest of this guide describes the class as it plays now (client build 1.60.1.70425).
Last updated 2026-10-16, checked 2026-10-16.
- : Poisons no longer trigger against attackers.
- : Human Sword Specialization was replaced by Ruthless, a flat +2% critical strike chance that no longer needs a sword.
- : Dwarf Mace Specialization was replaced by Earth Fury, +2% critical damage and healing.
- : Night Elf Quickness run-speed bonus began stacking with other speed boosts.
- : Gnome Eureka! became an 8-second buff with no charges.
- : Wind Blessed haste changed from +1% to +3%.
- : Orc Blood Fury cooldown changed from 2 to 3 minutes.
- : Orc Axe Specialization was replaced by Savage, +1% critical strike chance.
- : Undead Touch of the Dead procs 20% of the time for Rogues on a 25-second internal cooldown.
- : Troll Regeneration doubled from 10% to 20%.
- : Sap can no longer trigger weapon procs.
- : Cold Blood began being consumed when Mutilate crits.
- : Build 70291 let several weapon swaps fit inside one global cooldown, so a swap macro can switch a whole weapon set at once.
- : Blizzard announced that Death Mark will replace Thousand Cuts as the Subtlety 31-point talent.
- : Shenthul in Orgrimmar began training Skyborne (Windshaper) Rogues.
- : Dungeon quest XP was cut; it still pays about 2.2 times Classic's.
- : Respawns were raised in Hillsbrad, Ashenvale, Wetlands, Duskwood and Thousand Needles.
- : A missed Expose Armor stopped costing combo points.
- : Setup began adding points only when your current target is the enemy you dodged.
Still open
- Death Mark: announced to replace Thousand Cuts; no build, numbers, cost or cooldown yet, and not in 70205.
- Do poisons scale with attack power? A test found none.
- Do poisons stack with sharpening stones and Windfury Totem? Blizzard confirmed Weightstones and Sharpening Stones; Windfury Totem is still unconfirmed.
- Do Expose Armor and Sunder Armor add together? Blizzard only said Sunder can go on over Expose.
- Does Vanish still need Flash Powder? The client reagent data says yes (one Flash Powder, build 70205); the Reagent Economy legacy perk would remove it.
- Poisons quest vs level 20: the client lists Poisons at 20, but the quest data has Klaven's Tower and Hinott's Assistance teaching it at 24–26. Can you train it without the quest?
- Instant Poison IV says 1,800 charges in the client, between 105 and 150 for its neighbours: a tooltip bug (it prints the 1,800-second duration), learned at 44, above the beta cap.
- The Horn of Xelthos chain and its Rogue ring are in the quest data but not yet confirmed in game.
- Parry and block from behind (known issue): still listed, no fix note in 70205.
- Rogue class blog: promised, not yet posted.
- Everything above level 30 is untested until the beta cap rises.
