Horde race
Troll
Darkspear trolls are quick, regenerating Horde fighters with a haste burst and a self-heal, and they can play seven classes.
Overview
Troll has the widest class choice of any Horde race. Berserking raises attack and casting speed by 10% for 10 seconds. Rapid Regeneration heals half your health over 6 seconds, but any movement, action or damage cancels it.
Regeneration speeds up health recovery by 20% and lets part of it continue in combat. Beast Slaying adds 5% damage against Beasts, which helps while levelling in zones full of animals.
Trolls can be Warriors, Hunters, Rogues, Priests, Shamans, Mages and Warlocks. Warlock is new for Trolls in Forever.

Classes
Racial abilities
| Racial | Type | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| active | Increases your spellcasting and attack speed by 10% for 0 sec. What to know: A haste burst for dungeon bosses and elite packs. It suits Hunters, Rogues, Mages and Warlocks best. | |
| active | Regenerate 50% of your maximum Health over 6 sec. Any movement, action, or damage taken will cancel the effect. What to know: A recovery tool between pulls or when no enemies are close. It does not help in the middle of a fight, because damage breaks it. | |
| passive | Damage dealt versus Beasts increased by 5%. What to know: Helpful while levelling in beast-heavy zones. It matters little in most dungeons. | |
| passive | Health regeneration rate increased by 20%. In addition, 20% of total Health regeneration will continue during combat. What to know: Cuts the time spent recovering health, and gives a small trickle in fights. |
Best classes for Troll
- Hunter: Beast Slaying helps while levelling, and Berserking speeds Auto Shot.
- Mage: Berserking adds casting speed for burst damage (likely).
- Warlock: Likely a good fit: Berserking speeds direct spells.
Lore
The trolls of Azeroth are an old and varied people. The Darkspear tribe belongs to the jungle trolls, from the jungles of the south. After losing their homeland to enemy tribes, they took refuge on the Echo Isles off the coast of Durotar.
The Darkspear endured pressure of the murlocs and of the Burning Blade orcs in Durotar, until Thrall's Horde found them. The tribe's leader, Sen'jin, struck a bargain with Thrall. After Sen'jin fell, his son Vol'jin took his place as leader and swore the tribe to the Horde, and the Darkspear trolls moved to Durotar.
Darkspear culture follows the loa, the great spirits of the troll world, and its witch doctors and shadow hunters hold the tribe's old ways. Trolls are quick to laugh, proud and hard to rattle. They hold a grudge toward the old troll empires, and other troll tribes cling to that history.
The Darkspear are loyal to the Horde and to Thrall. They live in Sen'jin Village and the Echo Isles. They have good ties with the orcs, who saved them, and with the Tauren, and they accept the Forsaken.
Good to know
- Troll Warlock is a new combination in Forever.
- Trolls speak Zandali, and they understand Orcish through the Horde.
- Troll Priests gain Hex of Weakness and Shadowguard as racial spells.
- Berserking affects attacks and direct spells; players report that it does not speed up channels or damage over time.
