Fury Warrior

Client build 1.60.1.70425 · updated

Melee damage

Dual-wield raid damage, rebuilt: Whirlwind always hits with both weapons, Bloodthirst at 45% of attack power, Flurry behind Death Wish.

Fury dual-wields from 20 and spends rage on Bloodthirst (from 40), Whirlwind (from 36) and Heroic Strike or Cleave. Cruelty and Unbridled Wrath come first: crit gives 100% more rage on basic attacks, and Unbridled Wrath adds rage on hits. Furious Precision covers the off-hand's big miss chance, and Dual Wield Specialization adds off-hand damage and 10–50% more off-hand rage. Death Wish is the 21-point milestone and the gate to Flurry, so Flurry comes at 35 at the earliest (30 with all five Talented points). Blizzard wants Warriors to be "the kings of cleave", and Fury's Whirlwind and Cleave are the reason.

Strengths and weaknesses

StrengthsWeaknesses
Dual-wield damage from level 20The off-hand misses far more often, so hit matters on gear
Whirlwind and Cleave make it the cleave specA second weapon raises the miss chance by 19%
Bloodthirst from 40 and Whirlwind from 36 give strong rage spendersWeak before level 20, when it still uses a two-hander
Crit gives 100% more rage on basic attacksFlurry comes late, at 35 at the earliest
Lingering Rage carries rage from one pull into the nextTwo-handed Fury is worse than dual wield

Stat priority

  1. Weapon damage
  2. Hit
  3. Critical strike
  4. Strength
  5. Agility
  6. Stamina

Hit is "especially important while dual-wielding", because a second weapon raises your miss chance by 19% (to about 27% at level). Fury's Precision (+3% hit) was removed, so Furious Precision's off-hand hit is the only hit talent; main-hand hit comes from gear. A slow main hand gives more rage per swing. Two-handed Fury lost ground: Unbridled Wrath no longer doubles for two-handers.

Do this

  • Level with a two-hander until 20, then dual-wield.
  • Put hit on gear first: the off-hand misses far more often, and Furious Precision only helps the off-hand.
  • Use Lingering Rage to carry rage from one pull into the next.
  • Stand at the edge of melee range behind the target until the parry-from-behind issue is fixed.
